Volunteer opportunities are available as the Maricopa Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will be holding a free basic training course starting on September 13. The training program will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 6 p.m. and will end on October 6. A final CERT drill is scheduled for Saturday, October 15 which will showcase and incorporate all of the skills and training participants have learned over the entire course.
Anyone interested in learning more about the program or joining CERT and attending this training, can contact George Burger via phone at (520) 316-6816 or email at George.Burger@maricopa-az.gov.
The CERT Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.
