The South Carolina Governor’s School for Science & Mathematics (GSSM) has announced the expansion of its summer day camps to include four additional technical colleges across the state. This initiative is part of GSSM's efforts to make STEM education more accessible to students in South Carolina.
The GSSM GoSciTech Day camps are tailored for students entering grades 6 through 8, offering hands-on experiences in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). These four-day programs operate from Monday to Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., focusing on developing problem-solving and teamwork skills through explorations in engineering, human biology, coding, and other areas. The camps are held at technical colleges throughout the state, allowing students access to high-quality STEM learning close to home.
The new host locations include Aiken Technical College in Graniteville, Piedmont Technical College in Greenwood, Trident Technical College in North Charleston, and Williamsburg Technical College in Kingstree.
With these additions, GSSM now collaborates with a total of 14 technical colleges statewide to offer these educational opportunities.
