America’s Living History Foundation is set to present the 8th Annual American Heritage Festival at Graham’s Historic Farm in Lake City on February 15-16, 2025. The event commemorates the Pee Dee area's contribution to the American Revolution, particularly its support for Francis Marion and his forces during their strategic attacks against the British in the early 1780s.
The festival will feature a variety of historical activities including Continental and British encampments, cannon and musket firing demonstrations, Revolutionary War battle reenactments, colonial trade demonstrations, workshops, historical speakers, and vendors offering goods from the 18th century. In tribute to Francis Marion's predominantly Scots-Irish militia, there will be Men and Women’s Scots-Irish Games with events such as tabor toss, hammer throw, and tug of war. Musical performances by Celtic band Eireann’s Call are scheduled throughout the weekend along with a march by the Palmetto Pipes and Drums Band. Food, beer, and wine will be available under a party tent.
In addition to Revolutionary War themes, the festival will honor America's role in World War II with a speech by General George Patton's grandson. There will also be American and German encampments along with weapons demonstrations and WWII skirmishes planned for both days.
The event receives partial funding from several organizations including the South Carolina Revolutionary War 250th Commission, SC Humanities, DSM, The Inn at the Crossroads, FTC Smart Choice, and the General George Patton Foundation.
