GIILA RIVER INDIAN COMMUNITY: A Message from the Executive Office

Gila River Indian Community issued the following announcement on April 10

“I would like to take this opportunity to wish all Community Members a happy Easter Holiday weekend. This is a time to spend in prayer and thanks with family and friends. However, we need to be mindful of the need to continue social distancing and limiting exposure to COVID-19.

I would also like to remind everyone of my Executive Order No.6. My Executive Order No. 6 provides that –

Essential Activities include, but are not limited to, the following activities:

· Seeking medical care or assisting others to seek medical care;

· Providing care for a family member, friend, or animal in another household;

· Obtaining food and necessary household supplies and services, including obtaining such items for those in need of assistance such as children, Elders and the disabled;

· Engaging in outdoor physical activities, such as exercise, while maintaining appropriate physical distancing from others;

· Attending work for Essential Functions, which include healthcare services, public safety functions, tribal government functions, businesses that sell groceries or medicine, farms and livestock, gas stations, financial institutions, hardware and supply stores, post offices, businesses that sell food for consumption off-site, home-based care and services, private and commercial transportation, professional and legal services, day care centers for employees fulfilling Essential Functions, funeral services, and other Essential Functions as defined by Arizona Executive Order 2020-18; and

· Travel related to an Essential Activity.

Pursuant to my Executive Order No. 6 , Community members are allowed to seek and receive medical care at their physician’s office and at health care facilities, including the Community clinics, dialysis centers, and the Huhukam Hospital.

If you need to report an incident or have an emergency, the Gila River Police Department Dispatch number is 520-562-4511 and the emergency number is 911. Please have a safe and happy Easter Holiday weekend.”
