The Junior Leadership Florence County 4-H Class participated in the annual State Government Session and South Carolina 4-H Youth Development Legislative Day at the State House on March 11. The event provided students with opportunities to engage with state government officials, including Cody Simpson, Executive Assistant to the Governor, local lobbyists, members of the House of Representatives, and Senators.

The day concluded with networking at the South Carolina 4-H Pinckney Leadership Program Luncheon. The event was supported by various organizations, including Leadership Florence County Program, the Florence Chamber of Commerce, Francis Marion University, and Clemson Florence County 4-H.

Special acknowledgments were given to JLFC Advisory Board Members: Celia Urquhart from U.S. Senator Lindsay Graham's office; Dr. Neal Vincent from Florence County School District Two; and Rusty Turner from Florence School District Two for their assistance in chaperoning the trip.

Applications are open for rising high school sophomores or juniors in Florence County interested in next year's program. The application deadline is April 30.
