The South Carolina Governor’s School for Science & Mathematics (GSSM) robotics teams demonstrated notable performance at the South Carolina FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Robotics Championship. The event took place at Dreher High School on February 21-22.
GSSM's Golden Dragons, known as Team 772, were awarded the Inspire Award. This award is given to the top-ranked FTC team in the state for the 2024-25 season and acknowledges achievements in robot design, teamwork, and outreach. In addition to this accolade, the Golden Dragons competed as the second-ranked Alliance Team Captain. They selected Raptoria, Team 25068, as their partner for the playoffs. This partnership mirrored their previous success at January's Midlands Qualifier.
The alliance between Dragons and Raptoria advanced through five challenging playoff matches to reach the finals. A significant contribution to their success was made by Raptoria’s robot, which was initially constructed in GSSM’s Robotics class by Rehden DuRant and Jaden Press.
