Governor Henry McMaster, alongside the South Carolina Department of Commerce and South Carolina Ports, has reported that the state's export sales reached $38 billion in 2024. This figure marks the highest volume since 2019, as stated by the U.S. Department of Commerce.
The automotive sector emerged as a leader among South Carolina's exported goods, with sales significantly surpassing those of aircraft and aerospace components, the second-largest industry type. The state holds a prominent position nationally as the top exporter of completed passenger vehicles and tires. It ranks second in exporting ball and roller bearings.
In terms of percentage share for 2024, South Carolina's top five exported commodities were completed passenger vehicles, aircraft and parts, machinery and parts (including turbojets, turbopropellers, gas turbines, ball and roller bearings), plastics, and rubber (tires).
