The Florence Police Department (FPD) is now accepting applications for its Citizens Police Academy Spring 2025 class. The program aims to enhance understanding between the police and citizens through educational activities. It offers residents a chance to learn about their local police agency without the intention of training them to become officers.

Participants will explore various topics, including Officer Training, Patrol and Traffic operations, Juvenile Procedures, Gang activity and Awareness, Narcotics/Vice, Criminal Investigations, Victim Witness Advocate, Polygraph Use, Emergency Response Team, and demonstrations from the K-9 Unit, Crime Scene Unit, and Drone Operators. Attendees will have opportunities to meet and learn from officers across different divisions and specialty units within the department.

The course commences on Tuesday, April 1 at 6:00 pm and spans seven weeks. Classes are held on Tuesdays from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Interested individuals can apply via the police department's website or by completing an application form. For additional information, contact Captain Brian Barley at (843) 624-3533 or bbarley@cityofflorence.com.
