The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) has finalized the design for a new interchange that will include a bridge carrying State Route 347 over Riggs Road, located north of Maricopa. This development will replace the existing ground-level intersection between these two roadways.
The selected design features a diamond interchange with a new SR 347 bridge and ramps facilitating connections to and from Riggs Road. ADOT's planning aims to enhance safety, reduce congestion, and improve travel times in this busy area. The grade-separated interchange is expected to allow traffic on SR 347 to move freely over Riggs Road.
Currently in its final design phase, the project is anticipated to be ready for construction advertising by early 2026. ADOT has collaborated with the Gila River Indian Community and the Maricopa Association of Governments, working alongside the federal Bureau of Indian Affairs in planning this project.
Additionally, left and right turn lanes will be incorporated along Riggs Road as part of the interchange design to improve access to SR 347. For more information about this project and others planned for SR 347, visit azdot.gov/SR347.
