The 13-game winning streak for Central Arizona Vaqueras softball team came to an end with not one, but two losses in a doubleheader against the Yavapai Roughriders on March 15.

Both teams were ranked in the Top 10 of the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference with Yavapai ranked third and Central Arizona ranked 10th.

"Coming out and losing both games doesn't feel good, but it shows us what we've gotta take care of because we're going to have to beat them come regionals," Vaqueras Coach Shelby Davis told the Casa Grande Dispatch.

According to the Casa Grande Dispatch, Davis said the team needs to be willing to make progress and not point blame for the loss. "It's on all of us, it's on us coaches, it's on each of them as players so it's just being willing to come out, willing to work hard and persevere, and be willing to make progress," she added.

Davis even mentioned that Emily Churchill is "100%" after Churchill tore her ACL last season. Davis told the Casa Grande Dispatch that Churchill was focused on regaining strength and being to play.

Vaqueras are now 24-3 overall and 15-3 in conference play. The Roughriders topped Vaqueras 9-7 in game 1 and 5-2 in the second game of the day.
