City of Tolleson issued the following announcement on Sept. 3
In the City of Tolleson COVID-19 cases continue to be higher than Maricopa County. City staff continues to collaborate with the Maricopa County Health Department monitoring COVID-19 case and positivity rates in the state, county and in the City of Tolleson.
Per Maricopa County, cities with a rate 1.5 times the county rate are hotspots. In May there were 24 COVID-19 cases in Tolleson and in June 213 cases. This drastic increase was 2.4 times faster in the month of June than Maricopa County making Tolleson a hotspot. With 152 reported COVID-19 cases in July, the city’s case rate is 1.8 times higher than Maricopa County resulting in the continued hot spot designation. Although the hotspot designation remains in place cases are decreasing, the City is asking that the entire community continue to follow CDC guidelines to slow the spread of COVID-19.
The County continues to work directly with the Tolleson Community Action Program (CAP) Office to provide rental assistance to those families impacted by COVID-19. The CAP office will refer clients to Maricopa County for COVID emergency assistance for their heating/cooling repair/replace program. Maricopa County has designated a hotel in Tempe as part of the Maricopa County’s COVID-19 Temporary Housing Site. If you or someone you know has COVID-19 and are unable to isolate in a room by yourself, unable to have a bathroom to yourself that nobody else can use, are able to care for yourself without assistance you may qualify to stay at this housing site for free. To learn more about this service and others offered by the Maricopa County Department contact the Tolleson CAP office for assistance.
