After Arizona's Republican primary election on Aug. 4., Rep. John Fillmore and Jacqueline Parker, candidates for the Arizona House of Representatives District 16, came out ahead of Republican candidates Forest Moriarty and Lisa Godzich.
Fillmore is the current holder of the District 16 seat and was able to come out ahead of Moriarty and Godzich, beating them in the primary election, Pinal Central reported. But the second Republican nomination went to Parker, who came out of the primary election with 32.2% of the votes, according to Ballotpedia. Fillmore secured 27.5% of the votes. Moriarty came out with 21.9% and Godzich with 18.5%, which caused these two to no longer be a candidate.
Fillmore will be going up against Parker and Democrat nominee Helen Hunter for the general election in November.
Fillmore's current term as a House Representative will end on Jan. 10, 2021. He ran for his seat in the 2014 and 2016 elections, but lost both elections. He previously represented District 23 as a House Representative for Arizona, according to Ballotpedia.
Parker is an attorney and legal policy advisor, according to Ballotpedia. This is her first time running for an elected office.
