MOUNTAIN VIEW LUTHERAN CHURCH: Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord

Cross

Mountain View Lutheran Church issued the following announcement on July 24

Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord

How great is your God? Too often we want to think of God as what a friend we have in Jesus. This is true but we can miss the greatness of our God. He is not small and will not fit into the box that many people want to put him in. He can do far more than we can ask or think. He is the one who created the heavens and the earth. He is the one who delivered his people from the land of Egypt with a mighty hand and outstretched arm. He faithfully provides for all our daily needs. He is the same yesterday today and forever.

God delivers his people out of the hand of slavery of sin and death. He did this through the miracle of the cross. All our sins were laid upon Jesus the sinless Lamb of God. He bore the punishment for our sin so that we are forgiven. His awesome act of love is found in the Cross where he defeated all our enemies. He conquered death and the grave. He took all of our sin and shame. He has loved you and me with an unconditional everlasting love that will fill us with peace and great joy. Give thanks to the Lord for he is good His steadfast love endures forever.

Psalm 114:1 When Israel came out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of foreign tongue, 2 Judah became God's sanctuary, Israel his dominion. 3 The sea looked and fled, the Jordan turned back; 4 the mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs. 5 Why was it, O sea, that you fled, O Jordan, that you turned back, 6 you mountains, that you skipped like rams, you hills, like lambs? 7 Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob, 8 who turned the rock into a pool, the hard rock into springs of water.
