Gasoline manufacturer Nacero is planning to build a $3.3 billion plant in Casa Grande that would produce a more environmentally friendly type of fuel.
“By making an environmentally superior gasoline from natural gas rather than crude oil, Nacero will enable drivers to keep their cars and help the planet,” Nacero CEO Jay McKenna told Pinal Central. “Using existing vehicles, markets, infrastructure and proven technology affords Nacero the opportunity to quickly and predictably create meaningful benefits at world-class scale.”
The proposed plant would daily produce 35,000 barrels of gasoline consisting of a smaller carbon footprint compared to traditional gasoline as the natural gas to gasoline process doesn’t create the byproducts associated with crude oil refining. The plant is expected to generate roughly 2,000 construction jobs, 265 high-paying permanent jobs and $6.9 billion for the state economy.
Nacero plans to begin construction in 2021 and have the project completed by 2025.
