Wendy Rogers, a Republican elected to the Arizona State Senate in 2023 representing the state’s 7th Senate District, has called attention to road safety concerns affecting the San Carlos Apache reservation through a series of posts on her social media account.
On January 28, 2026, Rogers highlighted dangers along US 70 in Arizona, stating: “US 70 connects the San Carlos Apache reservation to the rest of Arizona. Precipitous road-edge drop-offs have killed too many tribal members. DEATHS HIT HARD. One tribal member often supports three generations. APPALLING. State of Arizona must fix US 70! #LD7 https://t.co/Ehk7dyhtpN”.
Later that morning, she addressed Governor Andy Biggs directly with a brief message: “Governor @andybiggs4az https://t.co/rrhgjRwt3O”.
In another post from the same day, Rogers commented: “Epic from the Heart. https://t.co/g2Tjl0Lkm2”.
The San Carlos Apache reservation is connected to other parts of Arizona by US Route 70, a highway that has been noted for its hazardous conditions and steep drop-offs near its edges. These conditions have contributed to fatal accidents involving tribal members, an issue Rogers underscored in her remarks about the broader impact on families within these communities.
Rogers succeeded Theresa Hatathlie as state senator for District 7 following her election in 2023.
