T.J. Shope, a Republican elected to the Arizona State Senate in 2023 to represent the state’s 16th Senate District, recently shared several personal and community-focused messages on his social media account.
On October 12, 2025, Shope commented on his expectations for the sports season, stating, “Then we better get used to losing a lot more this season… #BirdGang”.
The following day, October 13, 2025, Shope, who identifies as a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, extended holiday wishes to his followers. He wrote, “As a proud 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, I wish everyone a wonderful #ColumbusDay today! Stay safe with all the wild weather out there!”
On October 15, 2025, Shope offered congratulations and prayers to President Dallin H. Oaks upon his appointment as President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In his message, Shope remarked, “Wishing President @OaksDallinH the very best as he becomes President of the @Ch_JesusChrist of Latter Day Saints. Arizona’s history is filled with the pioneer spirit of this Christian community and this Roman Catholic will be praying for the President as he leads his flock.”
Shope assumed office in the Arizona State Senate in 2023, succeeding Kelly Townsend as representative for District 16.
