T.J. Shope, a Republican elected to the Arizona State Senate in 2023 representing the state’s 16th Senate District, shared several posts on his social media account reflecting on personal memories and current events.
On January 21, 2026, Shope posted about his first cell phone, recalling its longevity between charges: “Ah yes. My first cell phone. Single charge would make it last for days. What a beauty!”
Later that day, he commented on international politics with a lighthearted remark: “Oof…that’s gonna be awkward for the countries with literal kings “ (January 21, 2026).
The following day, Shope mentioned colleagues in what appears to be a supportive gesture: “Give my seatmates @LopezForArizona as well as @TMartinez4AZ!” (January 22, 2026).
Shope began serving in the Arizona State Senate after being elected in 2023 to represent District 16, succeeding Kelly Townsend.
