T.J. Shope, a Republican elected to the Arizona State Senate in 2023 representing the state’s 16th Senate District, shared personal and sports-related updates on his social media account over the weekend.
On October 4, 2025, Shope posted about his wedding anniversary: “FIVE times around the Sun with my lovely and beautiful wife and it still feels like the first time! Happy Anniversary Melissa! Here’s to a great weekend, a great future, more laughs, memories, travel, and fun to last a lifetime! We still have a lot of adventures left on this trip https://t.co/RrworO51MT”.
The following day, Shope commented on an Arizona Cardinals football game while on vacation: “I go in to get a relaxing massage on my vacation with the @AZCardinals leading and come out to see that we lost?! Melissa’s obviously glad we didn’t waste our time watching that hot mess… #BirdGang” (October 5, 2025).
Later that evening, he expressed frustration with the team’s performance: “Fire everyone!!! @AZCardinals this team is a complete dumpster fire… https://t.co/fTLdID3gsl” (October 6, 2025).
Shope succeeded Kelly Townsend in representing Arizona’s 16th Senate District after being elected in 2023.
