T.J. Shope, Arizona State Senator representing the 16th District since 2023, posted a series of messages on his Twitter account between December 14 and December 15, 2025. The tweets ranged from support for local sports to comments on recent events affecting the Jewish community and general advice on personal security.

On December 14, Shope expressed enthusiasm for Arizona State University’s basketball team, writing: “Let’s go @SunDevilHoops!!!”

Later that day, he acknowledged difficulties faced by members of the Jewish community and extended holiday greetings: “Wishing all of my Jewish friends a very Happy Hanukkah! I know the last day has been difficult but I will always be your friend. Stay vigilant!” This message came amid unspecified challenges affecting Jewish individuals during Hanukkah.

On December 15, Shope posted about self-reliance in times of crisis: “Stay locked and loaded cuz you can’t always depend on others to save you when it goes down”.

Shope, a Republican legislator who succeeded Kelly Townsend in the Arizona Senate in 2023, has been active in state politics and public discourse since his election.
