T.J. Shope, a Republican elected to the Arizona State Senate in 2023 representing the state’s 16th Senate District, recently posted several updates on his social media account, touching on mining development, local weather, and political criticism.
On January 26, 2026, Shope expressed support for a mining initiative in Superior, Arizona: “Just another great reason to support @resolutioncu and the thousands of jobs it will bring to Superior, Arizona. Let’s mine it!!!”
Later that morning, he shared a personal note about his day: “It was definitely a chillier early morning walk but the sunrise was great too! Love this time of year!”
The following day, January 27, Shope made a pointed remark directed at Representative Yassamin Ansari: “Are there any crimes @RepYassAnsari isn’t in favor of? Look forward to her pro-identity theft platform statement when it turns out that’s what the raids were about…”
Shope took office after replacing former state senator Kelly Townsend. As a member of the Arizona State Senate for District 16, Shope’s recent posts reflect both local economic interests and ongoing political debates within the state.
