T.J. Shope, a Republican elected to the Arizona State Senate in 2023 representing the state’s 16th Senate District, recently shared updates on social media regarding community events and local sports.

On March 10, 2026, Shope posted about his involvement with a local charity event: “Saturday night was once again a magical night as Melissa, Cali, and I co-chaired The @AZPetProject Hero Awards for the 3rd consecutive year! Melissa pours so much energy into this event so that we can positively impact the highest number of people & pets and I’m truly inspired by”.

The following day, Shope commented on balancing legislative duties with personal interests: “Never thought I’d say I was happier to be in committee than watching my Devils play a conference tournament basketball game. Sheesh!” (March 11, 2026).

Later on March 11, he reflected on recent developments involving Arizona State University’s basketball program: “This should mark the end of the Bobby Hurley era in Tempe. There were some dramatic highs, and dramatic lows like today…”

Shope succeeded Kelly Townsend in the Arizona State Senate beginning in 2023. He has continued to engage publicly with both community initiatives and local sports topics since taking office.
