T.J. Shope, a Republican member of the Arizona State Senate representing the 16th District since 2023, posted several tweets on November 9 and 10, 2025, criticizing Senator Mark Kelly and referencing recent political developments.

In a tweet posted on November 9, Shope commented on an Arizona Cardinals football play: “Me after that Brissett run to start the second-half… @AZCardinals https://t.co/sJn0g59gFp”.

Later, on November 10, Shope directed criticism at Senator Mark Kelly and another unnamed individual regarding their votes in the U.S. Senate: “You and @SenMarkKelly voting NO made everyone suffer. Just glad some Senate Dems had the guts to open up the government. Y’all have been gutless when it comes to standing up against your party which is 100% the opposite of how both of you campaigned. All of this was unnecessary… https://t.co/1NpHzULFVS”.

In a subsequent tweet on November 10, Shope continued his criticism of Senator Kelly: “Another spineless politician who campaigned as a centrist and legislates as a far-left progressive. You are part of the problem @SenMarkKelly https://t.co/sZLtnyiveV”.

Shope has served in the Arizona State Senate since his election in 2023, succeeding former state senator Kelly Townsend.
