T.J. Shope, a Republican state senator representing Arizona’s 16th Senate District since 2023, shared several posts on his Twitter account between December 7 and December 8, 2025, addressing topics ranging from college football to local holiday traditions.
On December 7, Shope commented on the College Football Playoff selection process, writing: “Can’t say I blame @NDFootball. They were SCREWED by the @CFBPlayoff/@espn/@SEC cabal. No need to give @ESPNCFB any of the additional ratings they bring to the table.”
Later that day, Shope encouraged fan attendance at an upcoming bowl game in El Paso, Texas: “I hope we have a great showing of fans in El Paso for the @TonyTheTigerSB! I’ve been to a bunch of bowl games and #ElPaso treats their #SunBowl guests better than any I have visited. And if you’re in the market for @Lucchese1883 items at their El Paso outlet, my friend Juan”
On December 8, Shope shared a personal update about holiday decorations: “And just like that, our Arizona Saguaro Christmas Cactus is up! We weren’t sure how it would look but its AWESOME, uniquely Arizonan, and its safe to say, we’re excited for our new tree! #MerryChristmas!”
Shope has served as Arizona’s state senator for District 16 since being elected in 2023. He succeeded Kelly Townsend in this role.
