T.J. Shope, a Republican who has represented Arizona’s 16th Senate District since 2023, posted a series of tweets on October 12, 2025, commenting on media coverage, social activities, and a football game.

In a tweet published at 00:20 UTC, Shope criticized an article’s portrayal of an SUSD staffer and Carine Werner, stating, “Wow. Kinda a misleading tweet here and article headline. The meat of the article certainly says a lot more about the SUSD staffer than it does about my dear friend Carine Werner. You’d figure lying to the media would warrant a more accurate tweet and headline.”

Later that day, at 03:49 UTC, Shope shared another post referencing the beverage brand Coors Light, writing, “We are well beyond @CoorsLight now…”

In the evening, Shope commented on an Arizona Cardinals football game, noting his enjoyment despite the team’s loss. He wrote at 20:09 UTC, “We lost but I saw enough from my @AZCardinals today to enjoy the game and Jacoby Brissett’s performance. #BirdGang”

Shope has served in the Arizona State Senate since 2023, after succeeding Kelly Townsend as the representative for the state’s 16th Senate District.
