T.J. Shope, a Republican elected to the Arizona State Senate in 2023 representing the 16th Senate District, has recently shared several posts on his social media account discussing topics ranging from personal activities to immigration policy and political action.

On January 17, 2026, Shope posted about his morning activities: “Seemed like a great morning for a boat ride!”

Two days later, on January 19, 2026, he commented on border policies and sanctuary cities: “Great thread. Sanctuary polices of leftist Mayors and Governors get the secondary blame here right behind the primary blame of Presidential administrations who don’t enforce strict border policies at the actual border. Shope succeeded Kelly Townsend as state senator for Arizona’s 16th district following his election in 2023.
