Today signifies the one-month countdown to a federal deadline requiring domestic airline travelers to possess a compliant form of identification. Those intending to use a driver’s license or state-issued ID for air travel must obtain an Arizona Travel ID from the Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division or selected authorized locations.
Travelers lacking the Arizona Travel ID or an alternative compliant ID, such as a valid U.S. passport, risk not being able to board their flights. The Arizona Travel ID is marked by a gold star in the upper right corner, symbolizing compliance with federal documentation standards. Required documentation includes proof of identity (such as a birth certificate or U.S. passport), a Social Security number, and two Arizona residency documents, like rental agreements or utility bills.
Walk-in services are available, but scheduling an appointment at azmvdnow.gov is recommended. The Arizona Travel ID costs $25 with a validity of eight years and will be mailed to recipients within 10-14 days.
