The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) has announced a series of closures and lane reductions occurring over the weekend of April 4-7, 2025, as part of the ongoing I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project. These modifications in the Phoenix area will affect several major roadways and are likely to impact traffic flow.
A key closure is the westbound Interstate 10 (I-10) between State Route 143 (Hohokam Expressway) and the I-17 "Split" interchange near Sky Harbor Airport, scheduled from 10 p.m. on Friday until 10 p.m. on Saturday, April 5. Following this, westbound I-10 will be narrowed to two lanes from State Route 143 to 24th Street from 10 p.m. on Saturday until 4 a.m. on Monday, April 7. ADOT notes that these times are subject to change.
Additional restrictions include the narrowing of westbound US 60, the Superstition Freeway, to one lane between Rural Road and I-10, which will take place from 10 p.m. on Friday until 4 a.m. on Monday. During this period, the westbound US 60 on-ramp at Mill Avenue will be closed.
Westbound I-10 will also experience narrowing to two lanes between Guadalupe Road and State Route 143 from 10 p.m. on Friday to 4 a.m. on Monday. Furthermore, northbound SR 143 will be closed between I-10 and Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) near Sky Harbor Airport from 10 p.m. on Saturday to 4 a.m. on Monday.
ADOT encourages drivers to consult the Weekend Travel Advisory Map for more detailed information regarding these closures and lane restrictions. The map is available in PDF format through ADOT's website, where a complete listing of weekend restrictions can be found.
