A fall festival is scheduled Oct. 22-23 at Caywood Farms to raise appreciation for Pinal County farmers. There will be many activities available, such as hayrides and inflatables, and vendors will be on hand to sell food and drinks.

The event will be from noon to 8 p.m. Oct. 22, and noon to 6 p.m. Oct. 23. Admission is $5, per person, according to a story by Pinal Today.

“We’ll offer hayrides that go around the cotton field,” said Nancy Caywood. “The hayride will stop for a ‘cowboy camp’ experience where visitors can make S’mores. We want this event to be fun and affordable for people — and everyone loves a hayride.”

Caywood said the season is perfect for the event.

“I love fall,” Caywood said. “It’s a time when we’re done with the heat of the summer.”

Caywood Farms offers cotton farm tours on a seasonal basis, according to Caywood's website. During the tours, visitors can learn the ins and outs of farming.

“They learn the whole cycle — how we conserve water, what we grow, how we take care of plants,” she said in the story.

It's all about nature and conservation, she added.

“We want to nurture an awareness about natural and renewable resources, including agriculture, so they can be conserved and managed,” Caywood said.

The family farm has been in the Caywood family for four generations, according to the farms' website, so talking about the importance of farming is a labor of love for the family.

“When people come out to the farm, they’ll have fun and enjoy themselves,” Caywood said. “Our hope is that when they leave, they realize the importance of farmers in the area and have a better appreciation for agriculture.”
