I met Gail (Mayor Barney) when I first moved to Queen Creek Valley in 1980 and immediately felt a strong kinship with him. We have had that ever since. His humble leadership and surprisingly witty "can do" attitude are some of his most respected qualities, in my opinion. He always assumed the best in people and had a very personable demeanor that we should all take note of.
There are not enough words to describe Gail's positive impact on our entire community and region. He has made a difference in many lives, including my own. He is a dear friend that will be missed, but his legacy and example will be remembered forever.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Barney Family as well as our many friends and colleagues with the Town of Queen Creek who were very close with him.
Until we meet again, Brother.
Supervisor Mike Goodman
