Casa Grande Union High School (CGUHS) cheerleader Mia Jackson officially signed with Bethel University. A gathering was held at the school April 19 for her teammates and family to bid her farewell.

Jackson was also honored at a signing-in ceremony at Bethel.

“I’m also thankful for everyone being here, I couldn’t have done this without them, they have all played a big part in my life," Jackson told Pinal Central. "Without the high school, I don’t think I would have received a scholarship like this. I’ve achieved a great deal here at Union.”

Jackson took the opportunity to discuss her future plans, even beyond college and cheerleading.

“I want to go into the nursing program at Bethel, but as far as cheerleading is involved, if I get a chance at the NFL after my work at Bethel, I’m in,” Jackson said. “I wouldn’t mind cheerleading for the Denver Broncos because my dad’s friend used to play for them.”

Jackson's coaches also had nothing but praise for her.

“Mia has been a goal-orientated achiever ever since I met her,” cheerleading coach Katie Kramer said. “Mia set forth plans for success and implemented those plans with work. She has put hard work into her tumbling lessons and her hard work and dedication produced success. She has shown leadership and respect for her coaches and her teammates.”

Kramer expressed optimism towards Jackson's future in college.

“I’ve had the pleasure of coaching you, Mia, over the last four years here at CGUHS,” Kramer said. “I am confident that you will do well and continue to set and achieve your goals both athletically and academically at Bethel University.”
