After a long, two-year hiatus, the Arizona City Golf Course recently held its annual tournament.

With a field of 110 players, officials at the course hope the even will provide a soft reboot for the course, which was handed over to the Arizona Golf Course Preservation LLC in 2021. As tournament director Mona Wilmont said, the event went off without a hitch.

“It was fantastic,” she said in a story by the Arizona City Independent. “We woke up to sunshine and a beautiful day. It was a great day for everyone, the players, the golf course and the chamber, it really was great for everyone.”

Both attendance and sponsorship were up for the event on March 10, Wilmont said, which is an encouraging sign of things to come

Wilmot was excited for the opportunity to host the even again at the Arizona City course, and she especially appreciated the opportunity to play at her home course, which was renovated in 2021 by the Arizona City Golf Course Preservation LLC before the latest tournament.

“Everyone had so much fun, and the fact that we were playing on our own home course was wonderful,” Wilmot said in the story. “Everybody was so excited to be back in Arizona City, to have that course open again, and it meant the world to a lot of people. This is something we have done for many years, and I had people walking up to me telling me they were going to be back next year.”
