Arizona has received $19 million in COVID-19 funding to help schools most impacted by the pandemic.
“No matter what education option parents choose, we are determined to make sure no student falls behind this year,” Gov. Doug Ducey said in a release on the Office of the Arizona Governor’s website. “Throughout our state, school leaders, educators and families have stepped up to overcome exceptionally challenging circumstances and deliver for our students. These dollars will boost those efforts, funding proven acceleration strategies to keep kids academically on track.”
The investment is part of the Governor’s Emergency Education Relief Fund under the CARES Act and will be distributed to eligible schools through the Acceleration Academies Grant Program, according to Ducey’s website. The program will help with a variety of needs including teacher training, additional curriculum, teacher stipends and summer education resources.
Among school eligibility factors for the grant program are AZMerit scores, internet access and cases of the coronavirus in the community.
