Pinal County recently received a grant in the amount of $88,250 from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ), according to a county press release.
This grant will be used to repair road surfaces at Pinal County Housing Property, which is also near Mary C O'Brian Elementary School. The poor condition of the road is leading dust and debris to be released into the air, which impacts the senior residents living at the housing property, as well as students that attend the elementary school. This project is expected to greatly reduce the amount of particles in the air, making it a safer and more pleasant area for the residents and students.
“The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality is pleased to fund this targeted dust mitigation project in Pinal County – the fifth since 2017,” said Daniel Czecholinski, ADEQ Air Quality Division Director. “Our ongoing partnership with Pinal County Air Quality to address dust control is improving the health and safety of both Pinal County residents and travelers. With the completion of this project at Eleven Mile corner, people and students who live, work and learn in the area can expect better local air quality.”
This is the fifth time that ADEQ has provided a grant to Pinal County to improve air quality in the area.
