Out of the 56 cases tested, the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) confirmed that one of the confirmed cases was a student studying at Queen Creek School.
According to AZ Central, the student, a boy, is the son of a Pinal County health care worker who worked during her 40s. Her husband had also tested positive for the virus.
Officials state that the boy was not on campus when his symptoms appeared. Thus, the chances of contamination for other students are low. Nevertheless, officials state that the school is establishing more thorough sanitation practices including routine hand hygiene practices.
"The school administration has proactively taken steps to ensure the safety of the families and staff, including cleaning all areas of the campus, establishing enhanced daily cleaning of high-touch surfaces, adding hand sanitizing stations to hallways, and incorporating routine hand hygiene practices throughout the day when students return," ADHS officials said.
