South Carolina continues to attract new residents, according to a recent report by moveBuddha. The relocation technology company analyzed data from 2020 through October 1, 2025, and found that four of the top ten states people are considering moving to are in the South.

For the sixth consecutive year, South Carolina ranked as the most popular state for inbound moves. The report notes that interest in moving into South Carolina is more than twice as high as interest in leaving the state.

These findings align with earlier U.S. Census data from January, which indicated that Americans are increasingly relocating to Sun Belt states.
