Last Thursday, a House Ways and Means subcommittee advanced the “State of South Carolina Small Business Tax Cut of 2026” (H.5006). The proposed legislation would exempt the first $10,000 of a small business’s personal property from county taxation. It also aims to reduce compliance requirements and eliminate the tax entirely for small businesses with less than $10,000 in business personal property. The bill will now move to the full House Ways and Means Committee for further consideration.
