The South Carolina small business community saw significant legislative developments during the week of May 4, as several top priorities advanced in the state legislature.
According to a statement released after the session, last week was described as “one of the most productive of the legislative sessions this year for our small business community, with several top priorities making big progress.”
Early in the week, SCMC led a coalition of 33 business organizations urging the South Carolina House to pass the SCDOT Modernization bill. The bill aims to accelerate road projects by years and passed unanimously despite some opposition. The Florence Chamber signed on in support of this legislation.
Further progress was made when both the Small Business Regulatory Freedom Act (H.3021) and the Small Business Tax Cut of 2026 (H.5006) advanced through Senate committees on Tuesday.
The Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce serves businesses and residents in Arizona’s Florence area and operates as a community business organization offering resources such as a member directory and networking events, according to its official website. The organization also contributes to economic growth through education, advocacy, collaboration, promotion of local tourism, and support for local businesses according to its official website.
Broader implications from these legislative advancements could mean improved infrastructure development timelines and regulatory relief for small businesses across South Carolina.
