Rep. Eli Crane, who represents Arizona’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on social media on August 26, 2025, addressing issues ranging from national security to economic policy.
In one post, Crane wrote: “Huge.” (August 26, 2025).
Later that day, he commented on the topic of Chinese students studying in the United States. He stated: “Here is roughly 10 minutes worth of reasons we shouldn’t let 600,000 students from China (CCP) come study at universities in America. It’s a massive national security threat. I’m a hard no.” (August 26, 2025).
Addressing economic and resource policy, Crane said: “Designating copper as a critical mineral is good news for Arizona. We produce more than two-thirds of American copper and are poised to lead the charge. This strategic move will reduce our reliance on adversaries, strengthen national security, and supercharge our economy.” (August 26, 2025).
Crane has represented Arizona’s 2nd district since replacing Tom O’Halleran in Congress in 2023. Born in Tucson in 1980 and currently residing in Oro Valley, Crane has positioned himself as an advocate for both national security concerns related to foreign student enrollment and for policies supporting Arizona’s mining sector.
