Rep. Eli Crane, a U.S. Congressman representing Arizona’s 2nd district since 2023, posted a series of critical tweets on January 1, 2026, questioning the involvement of Somali government officials and expressing opposition to Sharia law.

In a tweet posted at 16:30 UTC, Crane wrote: “Unreal. How many government officials from Somalia are in on this? https://t.co/qR62WVeRFJ”.

Later that day at 17:45 UTC, he stated: “Defend the West. Ban Sharia. https://t.co/R0ykndOl0E”.

At 18:18 UTC, Crane added another post: “And folks (rightfully) thought USAID was bad… https://t.co/XKd1fs2Rcj”.

Crane has served as the congressional representative for Arizona’s 2nd District since replacing Tom O’Halleran in 2023 and resides in Oro Valley after being born in Tucson in 1980. He is known for his public commentary on foreign policy and national security issues.
