Rep. Eli Crane, a U.S. Congressman representing Arizona’s 2nd district since 2023, posted a series of statements on social media expressing criticism of higher education and congressional stock trading practices.
On December 2, 2025, Crane commented on an incident related to higher education, stating: “If true, another shameful example of what’s wrong with higher education in America.”
Continuing his commentary the following day, Crane addressed the issue of lawmakers trading stocks. On December 3, 2025, he wrote: “Sign me up. Members of Congress should NOT be trading stocks.” Later that day, he reiterated his stance by posting: “YES. It’s ridiculous that this still needs to be debated. No wonder nobody likes Congress.”
Crane has served as a representative for Arizona’s 2nd District since replacing Tom O’Halleran in 2023. Born in Tucson in 1980 and currently residing in Oro Valley, Crane has publicly advocated for changes to congressional conduct and oversight.
