Rep. Eli Crane, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Arizona’s 2nd district since 2023, addressed water rights and infrastructure issues in a series of tweets on January 12, 2026.
In one post from the morning of January 12, Crane questioned past policies: “Makes you wonder why it was ever permitted in the first place.” Later that afternoon, he commented on recent developments by stating, “This is a huge issue. Finally trending in the right direction.”
By evening, Crane highlighted legislative efforts regarding regional water security: “The Yavapai-Apache Nation Water Rights Settlement Act would deliver long-term water security, critical infrastructure, and stability for the Verde Valley. Codifying this decades-long effort would be a solid win for #AZ02:”
Crane’s remarks come as lawmakers consider the Yavapai-Apache Nation Water Rights Settlement Act, which aims to address longstanding water access concerns and support critical infrastructure in Arizona’s Verde Valley region.
Born in Tucson in 1980 and currently residing in Oro Valley, Eli Crane succeeded Tom O’Halleran as representative of Arizona’s 2nd district following his election to Congress in 2023.
