Rep. Eli Crane, who represents Arizona’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media platform to comment on ongoing political events and national security concerns in a series of posts on October 17 and 18, 2025.
On October 17, Crane addressed the government shutdown, stating: “Only five more senate democrats need to defy their king, Chuck Schumer, for the government to reopen.” That same day, he elaborated on his stance after joining Representative Matt Gaetz for a discussion about the shutdown: “Last night, I joined @mattgaetz to discuss the ongoing shutdown.
If Republicans cave, Democrats will continue using shutdowns as leverage to push their demands.
Thankfully, President Trump has taken steps to pay our troops.”
On October 18, Crane commented on international affairs and former President Donald Trump’s leadership style: “This is exactly why dictators and strong men around the world fear President Trump.
You don’t have to like the language to understand it.
For many of our nations greatest enemies, it’s the only language they speak.
Peace through strength is a very, very real thing.”
Eli Crane began serving Arizona’s 2nd district in Congress in 2023 after replacing Tom O’Halleran. He was born in Tucson in 1980 and currently resides in Oro Valley.
