Rep. Eli Crane, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Arizona’s 2nd district since 2023, shared his perspective on the recent conclusion of the longest federal government shutdown in U.S. history through a series of posts on his official social media account.

On November 12, 2025, Crane criticized the characterization of the event by some, posting: “And they still have the audacity to call it a ‘Republican shutdown.’ Shameless…” On November 13, 2025, he announced the resolution of the impasse with a succinct statement: “The longest federal government shutdown in U.S. history has ended.”

Later that same day, Crane provided additional commentary regarding his role and priorities during the crisis. He stated: “Last night, I once again voted to keep the federal government funded. The American people should never be used as leverage to advance a political agenda. Thank you to the amazing people of #AZ02 for supporting one another during this challenging time.”

Crane has represented Arizona’s 2nd district since replacing Tom O’Halleran in 2023. Born in Tucson in 1980 and currently residing in Oro Valley, Crane has served as a congressional representative for nearly three years.

The recently concluded shutdown marked the longest such event in U.S. history, affecting federal operations and services across multiple states.
