Rep. Eli Crane, who represents Arizona’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, has recently posted a series of statements on social media regarding the ongoing government shutdown and congressional pay.

On October 1, 2025, Rep. Crane wrote, “Update: Schumer is still forcing a shutdown.”

Later that day, he addressed the issue of congressional salaries during a shutdown, stating, “Members of Congress shouldn’t get paid during a shutdown. Shouldn’t get back pay either. I’ve signed on to this effort.”

He reiterated his position with another post on the same date: “I’ve made the same request.”

Eli Crane has served as the representative for Arizona’s 2nd District since 2023 after succeeding Tom O’Halleran. Born in Tucson in 1980, Crane currently resides in Oro Valley and is known for taking firm stances on fiscal issues within Congress.
