The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) has received a $25,000 grant from the Oversight Council on Driving or Operating Under the Influence Abatement, in collaboration with the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. The grant will be used to support increased DUI enforcement across Pinal County.
With this funding, PCSO plans to boost its efforts through overtime patrols, additional officer training, and targeted operations aimed at reducing incidents of driving under the influence. In 2024, PCSO deputies made 554 DUI arrests. The department’s Traffic Unit will use these resources to maintain rigorous enforcement measures.
DUI Task Force deployments have already been conducted throughout the year during holidays and will continue on weekends such as Labor Day, Halloween, and during the Christmas Holiday Season.
Pinal County Sheriff Ross Teeple emphasized both the safety and financial consequences of impaired driving. “Not only is driving under the influence dangerous, it’s also expensive,” Teeple said. “Save a life. Save money, and stay out of my jail.”
PCSO stated that it remains dedicated to enhancing roadway safety through ongoing enforcement activities as well as education and awareness campaigns.
