There were 25,341 Latino students enrolled in Pinal County schools in the 2021-22 school year, 14.2% more than the previous year, according to the Arizona Department of Education.

Data showed that Pinal County welcomed 54,190 students during the 2021-22 school year. Among them, Latino students made up 46.8% of the student body, making them the most represented ethnicity in the county.

Among the 114 schools in Pinal County, Casa Grande Union High School recorded the highest enrollment of Latino students in the 2021-22 school year, with a total of 1,204 Latino students.

In 2022 Arizona had roughly one teacher for every 19 students, compared to the national average of one teacher for 16 students. Teachers handling a higher number of students was found to have negative consequences for students’ school performance.

Math scores fell the most from 2019 to 2022, while language arts scores decreased to a lesser extent from 2019 to 2022, according to the Nation’s Report Card.
