The South Carolina Restaurant & Lodging Association (SCRLA) announced on Mar. 17 the appointment of Mark Newman as its next President and Chief Executive Officer, following a national search for new leadership.

Newman will take over at a time when the hospitality industry is playing an important role in South Carolina’s economy and community life. His background includes more than twenty years of executive leadership in tourism, public media, nonprofit, and cultural organizations.

Chad Patterson, Chair of the SCRLA Board of Directors, said, “South Carolina’s hospitality industry is one of the great engines of our state’s economy and culture. We are confident that Mark brings the leadership experience, collaborative spirit, and mission-driven mindset needed to guide SCRLA into its next phase.”
