Honda South Carolina Manufacturing (SCM) celebrated the production of its 500,000th Honda side-by-side vehicle at its Timmonsville facility on August 6. The plant has been a significant part of Honda’s manufacturing presence in the United States since it began operations in 1998 with the Foreman 400 ATV.
The Timmonsville site expanded over the years to include ATV engine production in 2000 and personal watercraft assembly in 2003. In 2013, SCM started producing side-by-side vehicles, which are now exclusively built at this location. These models include the Pioneer multipurpose series and the Talon sport family. Production of all Honda ATVs has since moved to Swepsonville, North Carolina.
Over its 27-year history, SCM has invested more than $460 million into its operations and produced over 3.8 million powersports products.
“I’m extremely proud of our team in Timmonsville,” said Travis Lee, SCM site lead. “Their work and ongoing commitment and passion for our business and customers are the reason we’ve achieved this impressive milestone and many others over the years. No matter where our associates are in their careers at SCM, they are a part of our success, and I appreciate their continued efforts and teamwork.”
The plant covers 950,000 square feet and serves as Honda’s exclusive global production home for side-by-side vehicles.
