South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster delivered the 2026 State of the State address, focusing on the state’s economic achievements and highlighting the importance of the business community in maintaining South Carolina’s competitive position over the past nine years.
Governor McMaster noted several accomplishments during his speech. He reported that since 2017, South Carolina has seen more than $53.7 billion in new capital investment and nearly 100,000 new jobs created. The governor also cited $1.275 billion in cumulative tax cuts for families and businesses, a $4.3 billion increase in active highway projects to support economic growth, and a $20,000 rise in teachers’ starting salaries aimed at workforce development. Additionally, he mentioned that over 120,000 scholarships have been awarded for technical and vocational education to help meet employer demand for skilled workers.
