Florence community marks opening of Poynor School of Innovation in Healthcare

Florence 1 School Board members, along with community and business leaders, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the official opening of the Poynor School of Innovation in Healthcare on Thursday, December 11. The event saw participation from various officials, including State Superintendent of Education Ellen Weaver and McLeod Health CEO Donna Isgett.

Other attendees included Poynor School of Innovation in Healthcare Director Nicole Scipio, Superintendent of Florence 1 Schools Dr. Richard O’Malley, Florence 1 Board Chairman S. Porter Stewart, several board members, Florence Mayor Lethonia Barnes, City Councilmen Chipper Smith and George Jebaily, and South Carolina House Representative Terry Alexander.

The new school aims to provide innovative educational opportunities focused on healthcare for students in the area.
